Steps Syria Fosters Social Integration in Tartous: Towards a Cohesive Syrian Society

Tartous, June 24, 2025 – In response to the challenges facing the Syrian social fabric after years of conflict, the Steps Syria for Community Development Foundation organized a dialogue seminar titled “Social Integration Among Components of the Syrian People” in Tartous city. The seminar targeted 15 participants, including civil society activists, academics, lawyers, and politicians from various segments and sects, with the aim of promoting the values of coexistence and civil peace.

A Bridge to Unity: Confronting Division and Building Trust

This seminar was an urgent necessity to counter calls that exploit circumstances to create social and sectarian rifts, and to foster unity and spread love among the components of the Syrian people. The activity aimed to raise awareness about the importance of coexistence and accepting others, and to empower participants to play a positive role in building a cohesive and diverse society.

The discussion included key themes such as the concept of civil peace and social integration, the role of civil society in promoting integration, its pillars, and the challenges it faces. The sessions were characterized by providing ample space for participants’ opinions and correcting some misconceptions about civil peace, which contributed to deepening common understanding.

Promising Outcomes and Recommendations for a Better Future

The seminar resulted in enhanced participant awareness of the concepts of civil peace and social integration, and their ability to accept differences and respect diversity. It also contributed to identifying challenges and proposing practical solutions, while emphasizing the role of activists and civil society organizations in promoting dialogue.

Participants affirmed their readiness to provide assistance in achieving social integration and bridging viewpoints. The Steps Syria for Community Development Foundation continues its commitment to repeating such activities in the Syrian coastal areas and other governorates, believing that social integration is the cornerstone for building a strong and unified Syria.
