Sweida | Steps Syria for Community Development Foundation
The Steps Syria for Community Development Center in Sweida organized a specialized training titled “Political Affairs Management for Political and Human Rights Activists” from March 22 to 25, 2025. The training targeted 16 activists (7 women) from various political, human rights, and media fields, aiming to enhance their effective participation in shaping Syria’s future.
Building Leadership Capacities for the Post-Liberation Phase
The training aimed to qualify local political cadres capable of leadership, negotiation, and public affairs management based on justice and citizenship. This initiative is a step towards promoting political stability and preventing the recurrence of exclusion. The topics covered included political awareness, political administration, the art of leadership, team building, and effective negotiation and communication techniques. The sessions were characterized by integrating theory with practical applications and realistic scenarios.
Women’s Participation, Challenges, and Future Prospects
The training saw remarkable women’s participation, the first of its kind in open political discussions in Sweida, which enhanced opportunities for free expression of political opinions. Despite challenges such as weak infrastructure, participants emerged with plans for local political initiatives based on principles of justice and transparency.
This initiative represents a fundamental step towards building a more just and inclusive political landscape in Sweida, reaffirming Steps Syria’s commitment to empowering the local community.
